Twelve Chinese Zodiac signs
十二生肖（Chinese Zodac）是中国及东亚地区的一些民族用来代表年份的十二种动物。
根据传说，人们当初和动物们开了一个会，最先到会的动物们就可以进入十二生肖。
According to legend, people held a conference with all the animals, informing them that they would pick the 12 to represent the zodiac.
在西方，中国十二生肖的十二种动物已经被越来越为人所熟悉。
In the West, the twelve creatures of the Chinese zodiac have become increasingly familiar.
高分写作点拨：
become increasingly familiar 越来越熟悉。
The contradictions are becoming increasingly acute.
矛盾日益尖锐。
上面的increasingly（越来越）也可以用more and more代替，即：become more and more familiar。
中国的生肖以12年为一个周期。根据中国的十二生肖, 每一年都与十二种动物中的一种有联系，即每年都以一个动物的名字命名。
The Chinese zodiac cycles every 12 years. According to the Chinese zodiac, each year is associated with one of 12 animals, i.e. each year is named after an animal.

According to the Chinese zodiac中的according to是根据的意思。把according to换掉，上面的句子可以改写成以下几种形式，不用老是根据中文思维按：“根据什么什么什么。。。”来写：
1).Based on the Chinese zodiac, ...
2).The Chinese zodiac shows that ...
3).As can be seen in the the Chinese zodiac, ...
4).In the Chinese zodiac, ...
be associated with 与...有关；和…联系在一起；例：
Cigarette smoking has been associated with lung cancer.
肺癌被认为与吸烟有关。
one of 12 animals十二种动物中的一种，所以后面的名词animal需要用复数，即animals。
name after 用…的名字作名字；按...命名；例：
The machine is named after its inventor.这台机器是以其发明者的名字命名的。
The building was named after a famous people.这座建筑是以一位名人的名字命名的。
John was named after his uncle.约翰与他叔父同名。
中国的十二生肖顺序是：鼠、牛、兔、龙、蛇、马、羊、猴、鸡、狗和猪。
The Chinese animal zodiac is in the sequence of Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
高分写作点拨：
in the sequence of (events) 按照（事件）发生的先后顺序；如：The trouble, really, is all in the sequence of events.
麻烦其实是在一系列事件中。
不要搞错，这些十二生肖中的动物译文中对应的单词，鼠年是rat，而不是mouse，牛年用的是ox，而不用cow哦！以下生肖对应的英文是最容易搞错的：
鼠：Rat(√) -- Mouse(×)
牛：Ox(√) -- Cow(×)
兔：Rabbit(√) -- Hare(×)
羊：Sheep(√) -- Goat(×)
鸡：Rooster(√) -- Chicken(×)；Cock(×)；Hen(×)；
